General Interest

General
Ukraine's first, and so far only, medal at the Olympic Games came in 2012, when they won bronze behind the US team and Jamaica. Ukraine had crossed the line in fourth place in London, but were promoted to the bronze medal position in 2017 after the Russian Federation were disqualified for an anti-doping violation. Four years later in Rio, the Ukrainians finished fifth in the final but in 2020 their result was disqualified for an anti-doping violation by Olha Zemlyak.

The Ukrainian team have participated at the world championships on 11 occasions since making their debut in 1993, recording a best finish of fourth in both 2011 and 2013. They finished sixth in the final of the most recent edition of the tournament in 2019.

Ukraine celebrated their sole European title in 2012, beating France to the finish line. Their only other medal at the championships is the silver they won at the 2014 edition in Zurich, Switzerland, where France turned the tables and snatched gold by just 0.05s.
