General Interest

General
Trinidad and Tobago claimed bronze, behind runners-up Great Britain and winners the United States of America, on their Olympic debut in 1964 in Tokyo. They qualified for the final at five of their next eight appearances at the Games before winning a second Olympic bronze at London 2012, joining the US team [silver] and the Bahamas [gold] on the podium. At the 2016 Games in Rio they were disqualified from their heat due to a lane infringement.

Trinidad and Tobago placed fifth at the 2019 World Championships in Doha. They won a maiden world title in 2017 in London, where they denied the US team a seventh consecutive gold medal at the tournament. They had won their first world championship medal, a silver, in 2015. The Trinidad and Tobago team were triumphant at the 2019 World Relays in Yokohama, beating Jamaica and Belgium to gold.
