General Interest

General
LONG JUMP AND RELAY FOCUS
He has also competed in South Africa as a sprinter but has signalled his intention not to race in the 100m event at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in order to focus on long jump and the 4x100m relay. "I don't want to focus on the 100m as I do not know how the schedule will be at the Olympics, where the 100m might clash with the long jump, so the relay is the only sprint event I could do." (thetoprunner.co.za, 23 Feb 2021)

TRAINING WITHOUT A COACH
He has trained without a coach since 2018 and believes that meant he was not affected by disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. "Lockdown wasn't much of a struggle as I thought it would be, because I've been training alone for almost three years now. I was never worried about having a coach at all. I had no access to a stadium, but I trained at a park in my area." (uj.ac.za, 22 Apr 2021)
