LATE QUALIFICATION
After several failed attempts to achieve the 5000m qualifying standard for the 2020 Olympic Games, he made the mark on 29 June 2021 in Durban, South Africa. His race was initially delayed by 90 minutes after the lights at the stadium failed. "I knew this was my last chance, but I was confident I could run the time. I just hoped that the conditions would be good and in the end it was a perfect evening. I don't get nervous, so it [the lights failing] did not worry me. I just hoped it would get sorted.
