Between February and July 2019 she suffered tears to her quadricep, hamstring and gluteal muscles, and also experienced two back issues. After almost a year out, she returned to competition in early 2020. (Athletics Australia Facebook page, 01 Feb 2020; emageogroup.com, 04 Oct 2019; worldathletics.org, 01 Jan 2020)

INJURY TROUBLE
Due to a series of injuries she missed most of 2019. She said she struggled with being sidelined for so long, but that the memory of winning bronze at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, QLD, Australia, helped motivate her in recovery. "It was a snowball effect. One [injury] led into the other. I was compensating, I wasn't having enough training and we were kind of rushing back to try to get to [2019] worlds. I think it was a time thing and a body thing, it was a combination of lots of things. It feels like the belief is slipping away a little bit [speaking in October 2019], just because I haven't done it in so long. But looking back on that [Commonwealth Games bronze] I know I can do it. I just need to put my body in the best possible shape and position to do that again." (emageogroup.com, 04 Oct 2019; runblogrun.com, 17 Dec 2020)

YOUNG WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP DEBUT
She was age 18 when she competed at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing, People's Republic of China, after making her first Australian senior team. She says that despite not recording a mark at the tournament, she believes it was a valuable experience. "I was so young and I just really couldn't handle it. Then some really personal stuff happened and there was the pressure of trying to qualify for the [2016] Olympics and I broke down. I couldn't jump for a while, for about a month. I didn't want to train. But if I didn't have that down, I wouldn't know what an up feels like.'' (theaustralian.com.au, 15 Feb 2018; athletics.com.au, 09 Feb 2018)
