She was born in Australia to Bosnian parents, who had moved to Australia in 1993 as a result of the civil war in their home country. "They [Bosnia and Herzegovina] really want me to run under the Bosnian flag, and I just go. 'No, I am Australian'. But I did say I'd paint my nails blue and yellow, which are the colours of their flag. So they've taken that and absolutely run with it. It was on the front page in one of their newspaper articles. The amount of messages that I've received from over there, it's just insane. They're so happy that I recognise where I come from and where my parents are from. They're really appreciative."
