General Interest

General
MODEL VAULTER
She has worked as a model and is signed to an agency. "I guess our sport is quite revealing and my sister [pole vaulter Vicky Parnov] and I like to take pride in our appearance. It's hard for athletes to come across as glamorous because we are out there sweating and grunting rather than standing there looking all pretty and posing. I find it quite bizarre but it's nice in such a masculine event to look feminine." (Instagram profile, 23 Jul 2021; yahoo.com, 29 Jun 2014)

FROM RUSSIA TO AUSTRALIA
She moved with her family from the Russian Federation to Australia in 1996. "At home we all speak Russian because [her younger twin sisters Alla and Natasha] were born in Australia so we're trying to keep them in contact with the family. It's hard to speak Russian living in Australia." (nzherald.co.nz, 27 Jan 2018; singapore2010.olympics.com.au, 26 Aug 2010)
