Her training in 2020 was affected by the outbreak of the Tigray War in Ethiopia. She was also prevented from making her half marathon debut late that year in New Delhi, India, as she had to spend several weeks at home due to the conflict. Electricity, mobile phone and internet connections in the area were shut down.
