General Interest

General
NEW COACH
In 2017 he joined coach Lance Brauman's training group in Orlando, FL, United States of America. "I basically just showed up, and Lance said, 'If you are in town for a bit you can train with us'. When I was in Trinidad and Tobago we did a high volume of sprint training, but Lance is a lot more focused on the technical work, so some days I would come to training and it would feel like I was not doing much running. But he corrected my form and sprinting dynamics, and it has made a huge difference physically and psychologically." (worldathletics.org, 07 Jan 2020)

BREAK AND RETURN
His parents made him stop competing in athletics in secondary school so that he would focus on his studies. After graduating he began working at an airport until age 23, when he decided he wanted to return to the sport after talking with his friend and national athlete, Deon Lendore. He then joined the Silver Bullets Athletic Club in Arima, Trinidad and Tobago. "I was more or less forced to stop competing in athletics, although track and field was always my first love. Deon grew up about a 30-minute drive from my house and he was doing something I had dreamt of when I was younger. Seeing him sparked a desire in me. It was like, 'Wow, I should get back training again'." (worldathletics.org, 07 Jan 2020; sportarchivestt.com, 09 Aug 2015; trinidadexpress.com, 25 Aug 2015)
