General Interest

General
BACK TO MOTHERLAND
In 2008 he left his native city Valmiera and moved to a bigger Latvian city, Ventspils, for further athletic growth. Then he moved to Essen, Germany, where he spent one and a half years before moving back to Valmiera in 2020. "Several factors influenced my decision to return to Valmiera, and it all naturally came together - we were planning a family, and when my wife and I visited our parents several times in Valmiera, she also really liked this city. I am very pleased to see that Valmiera is growing and developing. Literally in 10 minutes walk I have access to the Vidzeme Olympic Centre, so I have the opportunity to use the gym, swimming pool, saunas, which has a positive effect on my training process. I would not have moved to Valmiera if I had not seen my way of growth here. It is very important for me to organically blend into the environment, and here it is. Here in Valmiera, I see a place for myself even after the end of my career, because there is a mobile sports community with which I can share my experience in health care. This is how I see my way forward. I hope that the townspeople will only benefit from my return to Valmiera, and I, as a Valmiera resident, will be able to contribute to the development of a sporting spirit in the city."
