General Interest

General
FROM HAITI TO THE UNITED STATES
She moved from Haiti to the United States of America at about age 10. She says it was not until after she moved that she took up sports properly, as there were fewer opportunities for young girls in Haiti. "It [living in Haiti] was extremely fun and adventurous. I recall spending most of my time outdoors playing with other kids. Shortly after entering high school [in the US] I joined sports groups. I wanted to use my time after school to be proactive and not just stay at home and watch TV. I wanted to be useful." (worldathletics.org, 28 Jan 2020)

HIGHER EDUCATION
She spent two years at the University of Massachusetts Boston before moving to study retail management at the University of South Carolina. In January 2020 she decided to forgo her senior year competing for the university in order to turn pro, signing for London-based Stellar Athletics. She is to remain in Columbia to complete her degree and prepare for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
