Her brother Taylor McLaughlin has competed in athletics representing the United States of America, and won silver in 400m hurdles at the 2016 World U20 Championships in Bydogoszcz, Poland. Her father Willie McLaughlin qualified for the 400m semifinals at the 1984 US Olympic Trials and her mother Mary ran in high school. Her partner Andre Levrone Jr. played American football in the NFL.
