General Interest

General
MOTHERHOOD
She gave birth to her son Demetrius Jr. in 2018. "Coming back, it was tough. It was like I had to learn how to run all over again. I couldn't come out of [the blocks], my stride was different. I have so much pride and so much joy knowing that I bounced back from giving birth to him and having him see me and not give up. When I'm at track practice, I'm at practice. I'm able to turn that mommy hat off because I know my son is being taken care of, but when I'm home, I'm fully engaged with him." (abc11.com, 02 Jul 2021; onherturf.nbc.sports.com, 27 Jun 2021; hbcgamedame.com, 20 Jun 2021)

FELIX INSPIRATION
She won the women's 400m at the 2021 US Olympic Trials in Eugene, OR, United States of America, beating fellow mother Allyson Felix into second place. Both athletes qualified for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "I just told her [after the race] that I was grateful for all she's done for mothers. How she fought for us and paved the way for me as an athlete. I just thanked her for being her and never giving up and was paying homage to her. I've looked up to Allyson for a long time, and to be there and go through this with her as a mom was special." (registerguard.com, 26 Jun 2021)
