She got involved athletics because it is a popular sport in Jamaica. Her high school coach suggested she take up discus due to her physique. "I told him, 'I don't want to be a thrower,' but eventually I started loving it because I was having some success." (source.colostate.edu, 06 Jun 2019)

COLLEGE TRANSFER
In 2018 she transferred from Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS, United States of America, to Colorado State University in Fort Collins to train with coach Brian Bedard. She thought she needed an environment change after not achieving the results she was looking for in 2018. "I really wanted to leave because I was not improving, but I didn't know how to tell coach Greg Watson. The next day I found out that he was leaving for Louisiana State University, and that made it so much easier for me to leave. I didn't want to go with him, but I thought I needed a change in environment. I knew that coach Brian Bedard was one of the best discus coaches in the country, and I knew I needed a lot of technical work. I could have gone to any school in the country, really, but I believed Coach Bedard could make me better." SISTER ACT
Her twin sister Shardia has competed in triple jump for Kansas State University in the United States of America, and was the more talented of the sisters while they were still at school. "My sister was better than me in high school. K-State really wanted her but we wanted to stay together, so they signed us both," Shadae said. (source.colostate.edu, 06 Jun 2019)
