"You don't pick the 400m, it picks you. It is one beast of a race and a couple of crazy people do run it, you know, voluntarily. Moving up from just sprints to an event like that really makes you look at everything in your life. Your sleep, your training, your relationships, your emotions. MOVE TO 400M
In 2019 she switched her focus from the 100m and 200m events to the 400m on the advice of her coaches. "It was always something I knew was going to happen eventually. Through everything that was going on in my life and in my career, I was like let's just pull the plug on it and let's figure this thing out. It was an event that was talked about a lot, especially as I was growing up on the track. But I'm really happy to have dove all in and really just explore myself deeper. It really helped me look at myself as a person and it helped me fortify my character because, professional sports in general, you can't be a weak-minded individual."
