RETIREMENT THOUGHTS
During 2019 she contemplated ending her season mid-year to either focus fully on the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo or retire from the sport altogether. "At the beginning of the season, I was throwing around 77 metres, then I was hitting 40 or 50 feet less for about a month. Me and my coach were looking each other thinking, 'What just happened? What is happening?' I felt like I had a harness on. I thought that I was going to stop. I wanted to finish the season early, or possibly retire, as I felt I was taking opportunities away from other athletes. Then I met a chiropractor named Brian Murer who got me back on track. But I always ask myself, 'Why do I do it? Who do I do it for? And what's the purpose?' The day I cannot answer each question I will retire." (worldathletics.org, 13 Jan 2020)
