COACH CHANGE
In July 2018 she stopped training under Pedro Ribeiro, her husband, to work with Carlos Monteiro. "With Carlos it has been a constant journey of discovery. There is more pressure, but I have grown with the training group and the methodical way he works. I'm more organised. I needed something different, I was falling into monotony, and the coach is more than 50% of the athlete's success. I have no training, but coaching is something I see myself doing in the future." (ojogo.pt, 27 Dec 2019)

SANCTION
She tested positive for the prohibited substance methylhexanamine at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, Republic of Korea. She stated the failed test was because she had taken a food supplement that was not labelled with the banned substance. The Portuguese Athletics Federation [FPA] accepted she had not knowingly taken the substance, but suspended her from the sport for six months and her result from the 3000m steeplechase at the 2011 World Championships was annulled. She was eligible to return to competitive action in March 2012. (sol.pt, 31 Jan 2012; IAAF, 25 Jan 2012; SportsDeskOnline, 30 Aug 2011)
