TWIN SISTER
In 2020 her twin sister and Greek sprinter Anna retired from the sport. Irini says it has been challenging to train without her sister. "In the beginning it was difficult to train without Anna, I was always looking for her. This year [2021] I got lucky as I have a sparring partner who also runs in the 400m event, and who has helped me a lot in training. POST-TOKYO RETIREMENT
In 2020 she decided to extend her sporting career for another year after Olympic Games in Tokyo were postponed. "I told myself that this would be my last year [2020].
