She was born in Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States of America, to parents from Haiti. She works as a police officer. "Every day I hear, 'I can't wait until you get in a foot pursuit!' But it hasn't happened yet." In 2021 she was stationed at Laurel Hill Elementary school in Florida, and before leaving for Tokyo she was called to what she thought was a meeting, but it was the whole school to wish her good luck. In 2015 she completed a degree in criminal justice at Charleston Southern University in South Carolina, United States of America. She went on to pursue a master's in criminology from Florida State University in Tallahassee, which she combines with her athletics career and taking care of her daughter.
