SURPRISE PROGRESS
He says he was surprised by the developments he made in 2020, which included breaking the European U23 discus record. "It's true that I didn't expect anything like that. If someone had told me before the season that I was going to progress that much, I wouldn't have believed them. I've progressed five metres since last year [speaking in 2020], which is almost unbelievable." He says he has grown used to competing against stronger international athletes. "At the beginning it was really a bit strange for me because I started to compete with European and world champions. In the end, it's the same role as I have at meets in Slovenia. My role is the same, it's just bigger stadiums. In the end, it's the same for my rivals, we all have the same task in front of us - to throw the discus as far as possible." FUTURE PLANS
He works on his family's farm during his free time, and has studied for a degree in agriculture in Slovenia. He plans to become a modern farmer after he retires from professional sport. (kristjanceh.com, 23 Jun 2020)
