EYES ON TOKYO AND PARIS
She considered retirement after the 2012 Olympic Games in London as she had become a mother in 2010, but chose to continue because she missed out on the podium, finishing fifth. Having won silver at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, she again considered retiring after the 2017 World Championships in London, England, but after giving birth to her second daughter in 2018 she decided to continue. The 2020 Games in Tokyo will be her sixth Games and she plans to keep competing until the 2024 Games in Paris. "In Tokyo, I want to do better than what I have already done so the gold medal would be good. I also want to show that having two children is not a problem. Everything is possible. I want to prove that at [age] 40, we are not finished. If I am still performing at a high level [after Tokyo], why not [keep going]? Continuing for the sake of it does not interest me. But if there is a chance to be present at Paris 2024, it could be a fantastic experience at a home Games. The door was closed but now it is a little ajar, because with the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Games to summer 2021, there will only be three years to wait."
