COACH DEDICATION
He dedicated his qualification for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo to his long-time coach Hubert Steinmetz, who passed away in 2020 due to cancer. "He was the chief of the French middle-distance team at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He went to the Olympic Games as a coach and now I'm doing them as an athlete. It's very tough and there are moments in which I really miss him because Hubert was like a second grandfather to me. I have cried for more than a year. In the end, it is also great for him that this dream of competing at the Olympic Games is becoming a reality. I think I have a star in the sky above me now." (francebleu.fr, 21 Jul 2021)
