"It was a bit of a coincidence that I became a pole vaulter. I started athletics as a middle distance runner, but I was a restless child and was usually late. When that happened, my coaches made me pole vault as punishment. Eventually, I started to prefer it to running, so I would be late on purpose. Over time, I became friends with Alain Kouznetzoff, the coach at my club, and I got more involved in the discipline. The pole vault was one of the few ways to channel my energy and clear my mind. I had found what I liked to do and what made me really happy." (athle.fr, 06 Apr 2021)
