General Interest

General
SANCTION
In 2014 he was given a four-year ban, two of them suspended, by the French Athletics Federation after testing positive for an anabolic steroid at the 2014 European Team Championships in Braunschweig, Germany. He became eligible to compete again in July 2016. (ouest-france.fr, 03 Oct 2019; lequipe.fr, 31 Jul 2014)

CREATING CONSCIENCE
He hopes to use his own experience of receiving a ban for doping offences to persuade younger generations not to make the same mistake he did. "Those who have been suspended for doping have much more to say. After all, they have experienced all the bad things that happen afterwards. If someone can talk about the everyday humiliation, that you will be marked for life, about all those dark periods in which no one supports you, I think that would have a stronger effect." (liberation.fr, 30 Sep 2019; France 3 Grand Est YouTube channel, 11 Jun 2019)

OCCUPATION
He works as a freight train driver for Local and Industrial Railways [VFLI] in France. "I am currently on an annual part-time plan. I send the competition timetable almost a year in advance so they can create a schedule in which I can manage my time with ease. For the [2020] Olympic Games in Tokyo I will be working only a third of the time. But it's not a problem for them. They like to follow my career as an athlete." (liberation.fr, 30 Sep 2019)

OTHER ROLES
In 2020 he was elected to the municipal council in Gandrange, France. "I take up this responsibility with all my heart as I am proud to be elected to the municipal council. I will do my best to represent everybody from Gandrange who voted for us." (viamoselle.tv, 19 Mar 2020)
