He took up the hammer throw in 2008. (haberturk.com, 14 Feb 2020)
:
"I was discovered in high school by my physical education teacher Recep Gunay. He was also a coach in the national team. There was a huge gap in hammer throwing at that time and I was physically fit. I was then handed over to coach Ercan Erdin. That was how I started the hammer throw." (haberturk.com, 14 Feb 2020)

To compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. (haberturk.com, 14 Feb 2020)

"We make 30 throws a day. Each shot consists of four turns. It means we turn 120 times. We also do our technical training. After the throwing is finished, we make 20-30 metre turns in a row." (haberturk.com, 14 Feb 2020)

RIO EXPERIENCE
He attended the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro as a spectator in order to aid his preparation ahead of the 2020 Games in Tokyo. "I missed the 2016 Olympic Games. I was on the [selection] list until the last week. In order to better prepare for the 2020 edition, I attended Rio as a spectator with the joint consultation of our government. I was taken as a consolation. I watched the 2016 Olympic Games from the stands. I followed the finals of the hammer throw and other athletics events, their selections and the organisations in the field. It was a great atmosphere, thankfully they took me there. It taught me to tighten my preparation. So even though Tokyo was four years away, I started working hard as if it would happen next month." EARLY DAYS
He says he considered quitting the sport after first taking up the hammer throw but began to appreciate the sport after six months of training. "At first, I wanted to quit the sport because I started having severe muscle aches. However, my coach said that I am talented and that I should continue. I listened to him and did not give up. As I learned about the rotation turns, I started to like it even more. Hammer throwing became a part of my life." (haberturk.com, 14 Feb 2020)
