She has been bothered by back issues during her career. (yleisurheilu.fi, 06 Jun 2020)
:
She first tried hammer throw in 2009 and began to focus on the discipline in 2011. She also took part in wrestling, football, swimming and long-distance running growing up. (kristatervo.fi, 15 Nov 2020)
:
She came from an active family, as her mother ran half marathons and her father ran and skied. She discovered hammer throw by chance. "The hammer was not my first choice when I was younger. There were youth tournaments where our team needed someone to take part in hammer throw, so I agreed to do it. Before that, it was completely foreign to me."
