She was looking for a new sport after the handball club she played for from age 11 to 15 was disbanded. "I come from handball. MOVE TO SPAIN
In early 2018 her long-time coach Aristides Junqueira Neto passed away. Months later she received an invitation to join a training group in Guadalajara, Spain, which is run by former Olympic champion Ivan Pedroso from Cuba. "Training here with him is so good. At the beginning it was a little complicated because I missed Brazil. But my relationship with Pedroso is a very good one. We are very united and we all make jokes with him. It's very good having him as a coach. It's an honour to learn from him." (olimpiadatododia.com.br, 19 Jul 2020)

HEART CONDITION
At six months old she was diagnosed with a heart murmur and had to undergo surgery. "I carry only the scar of chest surgery, because after the treatment I've had no further heart problems." (globoesporte.globo.com, 09 Nov 2014)
