He ran his first competitive marathon in May 2021 in Lima, Peru, and met the Olympic qualifying standard. "I was training in Kenya, focusing on meeting the Olympic qualifying time, and there were no competitions available. Thank god Peru hosted a marathon. I thought to myself, 'I will come back to Peru, the place in which I competed in my first South American championship when I was 13 years old'.
