He originally played football from grade two of primary school after being influenced by his older brother. He switched to athletics after he was invited to a team by his friend. He was inspired by Japanese athlete Asuka Cambridge, after watching the Japanese team win bronze in the 4x100m relay at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. "My football skills were not very good, so I couldn't enjoy it as my performance didn't improve. With athletics, it is fun to see what you've done through your times and results."
