VETERAN
In December 2020, at age 39, he set a Spanish record in the marathon. "That makes me feel very calm to be able to leave athletics after having beaten a record for once in my life. I had always thought that at age 36 or so I would leave athletics, but now I look good so I will continue until my body tells me that I can't anymore. Another thing that I am very happy about is that some friends who had left athletics at age 33 or 34 have been encouraged to try again when they saw that I beat my record at 39."
