In June 2019 he tore his calf muscle while competing at a meeting in Montreuil, France and missed competitions for the following nine weeks. He used to take part at school races for fun, but he never took up the sport seriously until 2014, at age 23. "Despite running twice or three times a year at school, I never thought of training regularly. I skipped the lower categories and started directly at senior level. The spark was a cross country race I saw in Atapuerca, Spain, and I thought 'I have to be a runner'. I don't think about what it could have been if I had started earlier, it would be a waste of time. The fact is that since then I am discovering myself little by little, I am working on it, but the most important thing is the desire to dedicate myself to the sport."
