STUDIES AND SPORT
He combines athletics with studying to become a doctor at the University of Granada in Spain. "Our sporting careers will eventually end and then we have a whole life ahead of us in which we will have to earn a living in another way. We cannot be expected to dedicate ourselves 100% to something that does not provide us with a long-term future. Perhaps those who win Olympic medals can dedicate themselves 24 hours a day to being a professional athlete, but that is not my case. In medicine you need to put in more hours than in other degrees. Often I have to do without going to class and go to the library in the morning and be self-taught. Luckily, I have good friends who help me, but I have to train in the afternoon and then in the morning I usually go to the library. Sometimes I do a gym session before going in the morning. In exam time I take advantage and train in the mornings and study from lunchtime until the body endures. And it is like that day after day." (wangconnection.com, 18 Mar 2021; sport.es, 18 Aug 2020)
