General
BACKGROUND
She was born in Barcelona, Spain, to an Equatorial Guinean father and a Spanish mother. "My father is from Annobon, an island in Equatorial Guinea of just 5000 inhabitants. As a child he was ill and my grandparents decided to send him to Spain to improve his health. They ended up settling down in Barcelona, where he runs a winery." (mundodeportivo.com, 21 Apr 2019; elmundo.es, 01 Mar 2019)

EARLY DEBUT
She represented Spain for the first time at age 17, at the 2018 European Championships in Berlin, Germany. "I went with the idea that I had nothing to do because I was the youngest and did not even make a personal best. Then I saw other athletes my age who performed really well like [Swedish pole vaulter Armand] Duplantis or [Norwegian distance runner Jakob] Ingebrigtsen and that made me think. Since then, I have changed my mentality. Now I go to the championships thinking that I can already achieve things, that there is no waiting. I cannot lack [a positive] attitude again."
