General Interest

General
OCCUPATION
He is a trained police officer. "I joined the police in 2011 and finished my police studies in 2016. Since then, I have been on leave so that I can concentrate on my sport. It is a huge privilege that I can compete in my sport as a full professional. However, I am looking forward to working as a police officer at the end of my sporting career. It is a very versatile job, whether you want to be in the dog unit, the helicopter unit, the water police or to work as a street officer." (Mainathlet Podcast, 09 Jun 2019)

TOUGH TRAINING
He says the running events of decathlon are his least favourite to train for, as he often trains for these until he vomits. "The events I like training for the least are the running events. That is the training that leads to vomiting because you push yourself so hard. I often end up vomiting after training runs. My coach is really tough and pushes me. There is no giving up, we just have to push through it." (Mainathlet Podcast, 09 Jun 2019)
