She took up athletics in the second grade of school. She began race walking in 2015 in Potsdam, Germany. (pnn.de, 01 Jul 2018)

At first she tried throwing and jumping disciplines as well as running. "I wasn't talented at throwing and jumping, but I was good at running. Not in sprints but the 800m." She competed in the 1500m at national level, but struggled to progress further in running so switched to race walking after a trial period with German national coach Manja Berger's training group in Potsdam, Germany.
