STUDYING OVERSEAS
In 2016 he began studying and competing at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, United States of America, on a scholarship. In 2019 he decided to forgo his fourth and final season of National Collegiate Athletic Association [NCAA] eligibility in order to turn professional. "It has been so great being here at Tech, and now I've made up my mind that I want to go pursue my career. I'll always be proud to say I am a Red Raider and a Tech student. Wherever I go to, I will be proud to say that." (vivathematadors.com, 01 Jul 2019; LinkedIn profile, 01 Jan 2017; pulse.ng, 12 Dec 2019)

TOUGH BEGINNINGS
He says the memory of a difficult childhood in Nigeria motivates him in competition. "For everyone it was a struggle to survive. We walked to and from school and some days I didn't eat, I was starving. The key to my successes is my determination. I'm focused and hungry for success. I know where I come from, and I use that as a drive whenever I'm on the track." (vivathematadors.com, 01 Jul 2019; puma-catchup.com, 19 Jul 2019)
