He began athletics at age six at a club in Belvaux, Luxembourg. He began focusing on throwing disciplines at age 12, and specifically on the shot put at age 15. (worldathletics.org, 26 Sep 2019)

Both his parents played handball but he decided to follow his older brother into athletics. He was advised by a coach to take up throwing. "My dad once told me he was really good at doing squats when he was younger and I got that physical talent from him. But I got the mentality from my mum - when she wants something done, she will get it done. After trying discus and javelin it became quickly clear that I would stick with shot put." WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS REDEMPTION
He says finishing 31st out of 32 shot putters at the 2017 World Championships in London, England, was a pivotal moment in his career. Later that year he moved from Luxembourg to Mannheim, Germany, to join coach Khalid Alqawati. "The 31st place perfectly summed up my whole 2017 season. I had the worst outdoor season of my life and I never got things going in the right direction. But it was an important lesson for me, and I look back on London as a turning point in my life." Following the move, in the 2018 season he set three national records and placed sixth with a personal best of 21.00m at the European championships in Berlin, Germany. "The 2018 season gave me a lot of confidence. To throw 21 metres at the Europeans was unbelievable. It was awesome to throw a personal best on such a big stage." (worldathletics.org, 26 Sep 2019)
