General Interest

General
FROM GYMNASTICS TO POLE VAULT
She switched from artistic gymnastics to pole vaulting after suffering an injury, and being inspired by a commercial campaign. "In 2008 during a camp with the national youth gymnastics team I injured my shoulder. I was out for almost a year between therapies and rehabilitation and in that year I grew a lot in height, a negative note for gymnasts who are basically short. At that time Adidas had launched the 'Impossible is Nothing' campaign where some champions drew their story on the board. One of them was [Russian pole vaulter] Yelena Isinbayeva who described herself as too tall for a gymnast and that her coach advised her to try pole vaulting. I saw myself in her again and decided to try a few years later, because leaving my first love, gymnastics, was very difficult." (sprintnews.it, 17 Jul 2021)
