TIME AWAY
She spent three years away from the sport from 2016 in order to focus on her food science studies at Kansas State University in the United States of America. In 2019 she decided to return to Guanajuato, Mexico, leaving a job as a quality manager at a food company in the United States of America. She contacted her previous coach, Cecilio Blancarte. "[My return] was not for economical reasons, [but] as a personal challenge. If I hadn't made that decision I would have always asked myself what might have happened. I didn't have a family and even if my job was important I thought that there would always be one available, while sports opportunities wouldn't be always there." CROSS-COUNTRY
She competed in cross-country during her time at Kansas State University in the United States of America, which she says gave her much experience. "I did so much cross-country in the United States, and it gave me a lot of experience. It is different because there is more strength, pace and endurance. Track is different but cross-country helps me in my track preparation." (esto.com.mx, 11 Jan 2020)
