"I come from Deva, Romania, which is renowned for gymnastics. But when I was encouraged to do sports I was already too old for gymnastics, so a school coach recommended I give athletics a try. Athletics is my life and I'm glad I picked it up, as I see gymnastics as a harder sport. I began sprints and high jump with my coach Nicolae Alexe in the fourth grade of school before moving to long jump three years later. At first the long jump was hard for me. Other girls were doing five-and-a-half metres, whereas I was hitting only four metres." (worldathletics.org, 14 Jul 2013; aimx.ro, 15 May 2019)

BOBSLEIGH
In 2017 she switched from athletics to bobsleigh, in which she competed until January 2018 before returning to athletics. "In 2014 and 2015 I suffered from back injuries that affected my athletics career, then in 2016 I became pregnant. As a form of therapy to fix my back issues, I took up bobsleigh and had six months of training to help strengthen my back muscles, which worked. I no longer have any back pain. Within a year of competing in bobsleigh I won gold at the junior world championships. Bobsleigh was a temporary solution as I had recently given birth and it would have been hard to return to athletics immediately. I enjoyed my time in the bobsleigh but the cold was hard for me to bear, and athletics was always my first love." (ibsf.org, 27 Jan 2018; aimx.ro, 15 May 2019; click.ro, 16 Mar 2020)
