General Interest

General
Ukraine made their debut in the team event at the Olympic Games in 2016, finishing fourth in Rio de Janeiro. They scored 188.6080 points to finish just 0.5976 behind the bronze medal-winning team from Japan.

The team qualified for Tokyo 2020 after finishing as one of the two highest teams not already qualified at the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, Republic of Korea. In Gwangju they won bronze medals in the team technical routine, team free routine, the free routine combination, and gold in the team highlights event, to bring their tally to a total of six medals in team events at the past two editions of the world championships.

The Ukrainian team arrives in Japan off the back of strong performances at the 2020 European Championships, held in May 2021. Ukraine won the team free routine event and finished second behind the Russian Federation in the team technical event.
