General Interest

General
Twins Bregje and Noortje de Brouwer booked their ticket to Tokyo by finishing fourth at the Olympic qualifying tournament held in June 2021 in Barcelona. The Netherlands have not competed in the event at the Olympic Games since another set of twins, Bianca and Sonja van der Velden, contested the Games in 2004 and 2008.

The sisters have competed at two editions of the world championships, but are yet to contest a final on the world stage, despite finishing one place off qualification during the preliminary rounds of both the free and technical routines in 2019. The pair have enjoyed more success at continental level, achieving top-10 finishes at both of their appearances at the European championships. They finished eighth in both events in 2018, and improved to finish fifth in both the technical and free routines at the 2020 European Championships in Budapest, which took place in May 2021.
