General Interest

General
Spain are making their eighth Olympic appearance in the women's team all-around event at Tokyo 2020, and their first since 2004. They first competed at the Games at Rome 1960 and were ranked 16th. Spain did not compete again until Los Angeles 1984, but then went on to appear at each edition of the Games until 2004. The closest they have come to an Olympic medal is a fourth-place finish in Sydney in 2000.

The Spanish team secured their spot at Tokyo 2020 through their performance at the 2019 World Championships in Stuttgart, where they placed 12th. A world championship medal has eluded Spain in 13 appearances at the tournament since 1994, although they did finish fourth in 2001 in Ghent. They have not finished in the top 10 at the world championships since 2006.

Spain ranked seventh at the 2018 European Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. Their best result at the continental tournament is fourth, which they achieved in 2000, 2004, and 2006.
