General Interest

General
Switzerland narrowly missed out on the men's team all-around final at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, as they finished ninth in the qualification round. It was the Swiss team's first appearance in the event since 1992.

They have won five medals at the Games, including gold in 1928, but they have not made an Olympic podium since claiming their third silver in 1952. Since then their best result has been a fifth-place finish at the 1984 Games in Los Angeles.

The Swiss men secured their spot in Tokyo by ranking seventh at the 2019 World Championships. At the 2018 edition of the tournament, they placed sixth and matched their result of 2015, which was their highest ranking at the world championships since winning bronze in 1954. They won the world title in 1934 and 1950.

Switzerland won their first medal at the European championships in 2016 when they claimed bronze on home soil in Bern. They placed fifth at the 2018 European Championships.
