At London 2012, the Great Britain men's all-around team appeared at the Olympic Games for the first time in 20 years. They won bronze in front of a home crowd, claiming their second Olympic medal in the event 100 years after they took bronze at the 1912 Games in Stockholm.

Four years later in Rio de Janeiro, they were again in podium contention but ultimately finished fourth behind bronze medallists the People's Republic of China.

Great Britain qualified for Tokyo through their performance at the 2019 World Championships, where they placed fifth. They also finished fifth at the 2018 World Championships. The team won their only world championship medal at the 2015 edition, claiming silver as Japan took gold.

The British team won five medals [one gold, four silver] in five editions of the European championships from 2010 to 2018.
