RETIREMENT THOUGHTS
In 2020 he thought of retiring from the sport due to being troubled by his left shoulder injury which he sustained in June 2019. He was not fully recovered when he competed at the 2019 World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany, and the 2019 South East Asian Games in the Philippines. "The reason why I considered retiring is because of my shoulder injury. I still have lingering fears from my shoulder injury [speaking in 2021]. The trepidation remains. The second reason is because I lacked confidence to compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo with my shoulder condition. My mum actually scolded me and said, 'Jeremiah, do you really think that you are done? What about your dream to go to the Olympic Games? Do you really think that your shoulder really cannot recover?' These words awakened me. I looked back and realised that I've put 15 years of effort into gymnastics. I spent almost a year to recover my shoulder and get back to normal training."
