She previously did ballet and was spotted inline skating in a park by coach Mariana Silisteanu, who asked her mother to send her to gymnastics classes. Initially her mother was reluctant, but eventually she started. "On the first day of training, I didn't want to enter the gym because I was afraid. I don't know what I was thinking then but, after about another three days, I decided to go to the gym. Then, I fell in love with gymnastics. I didn't want to leave again." POSITIVE POSTPONEMENT
She welcomed the postponement of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo as it gave her a chance of competing at the Games. She returned to competitive action in late 2020 after tearing her Achilles tendon in 2017 and undergoing three operations. She had previously sustained a finger injury that ruled her out of competing at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and her performances at the 2012 Games in London were hampered by a foot injury. "Last year [2020] was a more positive experience for me and the cancellation of the Olympics was more pleasant news because it was kind of a chance to compete at the Olympics, especially when I found out it was possible that I could still qualify. I went through a lot of difficult moments, but I never gave up to the idea of doing gymnastics. It was hard to perish for so long, but now I'm fine. I can say that I like what I do so much, so I decided to give myself another chance to prove to myself that I can still do it." ILLNESS
She was forced to withdraw from the all-around, balance beam and floor exercise finals at the 2021 European Championships in Basel, Switzerland due to a kidney infection. (gymnastics.sport, 26 Apr 2021)
