General
The ROC women's 3x3 basketball team were one of four women's teams to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo through the world rankings.

The Russian Federation have been among the most successful nations at the World Cup. They won the world title in 2017 in Nantes, beating Hungary in the final to cap an undefeated tournament. They were runners-up at the 2014 World Cup on home soil in Moscow, and again in 2018, when Italy triumphed in the final 16-12 to prevent the Russian team sealing back-to-back crowns. At the 2019 edition in Amsterdam, they gained a measure of revenge over the Italians by beating them in the pool phase, but were eliminated at the quarterfinal stage by Australia.

Along with France, the Russian Federation are one of only two teams to have won two Europe Cup titles [2014 and 2017]. They also claimed gold at the inaugural European Games in 2015. At the 2019 Europe Cup in Debrecen, they were knocked out in the quarterfinals by eventual champions France.
