General Interest

General
The People's Republic of China qualified for the 2020 Olympic Games through the world rankings list, and will be one to watch in Tokyo. They won gold at the 2019 World Cup in Amsterdam after defeating Hungary in the final, and are also reigning Asian Games champions following a 21-10 victory over Japan in the gold medal match in 2018.

They were third at the Asia Cup in 2017 and runners-up the following year, but the team were unable to maintain that trajectory at the 2019 Asia Cup as they failed to make it out of the group stage following defeats to New Zealand and eventual champions Australia.

The People's Republic of China 3x3 team won gold at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010 in Singapore, but could only manage seventh place at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing. Four years later in Buenos Aires, they just missed out the podium following a 16-13 defeat to Australia in the bronze medal match.
