General Interest

NARROW QUALIFICATION
As defending Olympic champion, she needed to finish in the top three of the Dutch Olympic Trials in December 2021 to qualify for the 2022 Games in Beijing. She succeeded by the narrowest of margins, edging out Merel Conijn by 0.01 seconds. "Somehow I always can do a little bit more when it really counts" (schaatsen.nl, 27 Dec 2021)

ONLY ON SPECIAL OCCASIONS
Apart from her gold medal at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, she has never won an international title. She did win two silver medals at World Championships and one at European Championships.
